Name: Gloria Asare
Programme: Bsc. Biochemistry 3
Wings:  Prayer
Alma mater: Aburi Girls' Senior High School

I am Gloria Asare a third year Biochemistry student. I was born in Akosombo on 8th January, 1997 to Mr. Godfred Asare and Mrs. Victoria Asare. I'm the second born of four children. I live in Koforidua with my family. I had my basic education at Trinity Presby Model School and proceeded to Aburi Girls' Senior High School. Being in Aburi Girls was a blessing and I thank God for the opportunity he blessed me with. In Aburi Girls, by God’s grace I had the opportunity to serve in NUPS-G as a house rep (2013/2014) and as the president (2014/2015). Life on campus so far has been good. I have learnt quite a number of lessons since first year. I have learnt to have a positive outlook on life no matter how difficult situations may be and also to depend on God and not on myself or people. I've experienced many happy days and sad days as well but the joy of the Lord is my strength. He is the reason why I smile. I'm kind of reserved. I like to keep to myself most of the time but I also enjoy the company of friends. I'm committed to knowing God and to become who he has called me to be, like Christ. I had the opportunity to serve as the prayer wing LOV rep in second year and the treasurer for Garlands of Grace. I’m currently the LOV vice president. I thank God for all He's taught and is still teaching me in this service. I went to children service as a child and JY, but it was in SHS that I got closer to God. Since then God is growing me in Him to know Him more and more. I'm in Prayer wing. When I joined prayer wing, I didn't really have any expectations. I just joined. But by God's grace prayer wing has been a blessing. I thank God for placing me there. I find NUPS-G services a gift and a blessing. There's always something to learn when I come for service. And there's joy in the house of God. One challenge I faced while growing up was, low self-esteem. I had this perception that I wasn't good enough. I really struggled to love and accept myself. God taught me through His word and so many other ways about His love for me. He has lifted me from my insecurities and low self-esteem and He's still working on me. Biochemistry is an interesting course and I enjoy most of the things we do and learn. Study to show yourself approved of God is a scripture that reminds me of God's interest in my school work. I try as much as possible with God’s help to do the right thing at the right time to ensure that my life as a student brings glory to God. I love reading and listening to music. I read most of the time and write on a few occasions. I'm single, happy and content. I pray to God to make the most of this period and to know Him more and understand His will for my life. I think being in a relationship is a good thing when it’s with the right person and at the right time. I believe each and every one of us should strive to know what God wills for us before entering into a relationship and allow the will of God to be established in our relationships. "Walking in the newness of life", the focus for this semester is to me a wakeup call. A call to be who God has called us to be. My prayer is that none of us will miss the message and God's call to us to live the new life in Christ. True fulfilment in life can only be found in walking in accordance with the will of God. May God grant us all as a church the grace to know His will and to do it. NUPS-G...for Christ...
